Silliman University Postcard

The postcard shows Silliman Hall which is a landmark of Dumaguete City and an example of American architecture found in many of the college's buildings. Silliman University was founded on August 28, 1901, making it the oldest American university in Asia. It was established by Protestant missionaries of the Presbyterian Church.

San Miguel Brewery Postcard

Under a royal grant from Spain, Enrique Barretto y de Ycaza opened La Fabrica de Cerveza de San Miguel, Southeast Asia's first brewery, on September 29, 1890 at 6 Calzada de MalacaƱang in Manila, near the Palace of the Governor-General of the Philippines. He named the company after the section of Manila in which he lived and worked.

Old San Agustin Church Postcard

During the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during World War II, San Agustin Church was turned into a concentration camp for prisoners.The church itself survived the bombardment with only its roof destroyed. The adjacent monastery, however, was totally destroyed.
